The Caveman
-Aurora Bluemoon
Upon the time and
diving into the space,
There was the cave, a
serene, calm place,
Then comes a man with
so unfamiliar face,
Wisdom of the world
and last in the human race.
A subtle smile on his
face says, "Let's Restart,"
Gathered a few to farm,
hunt, weave, and art,
Taught his descendants
how to survive,
And make a home for
our planet to revive.
Once the master of
language, now used the symbols,
To turn the cave into
a natural board as signals,
To educate the new
world, marking only the basics,
Gone, hoping for a
better outcome with no tricks.
Newborn man crawled
slowly into time's cradle,
Forgot the master and
claimed that he did paddle…
Chin up, not in pride,
but to look for our prime,
Coder is one, we're
just NPCs in the game of crime.
In time, humans are
nurtured with knowledge,
Crossed all the limits
of nature to the edge,
Invented many claiming
they're fathers of divine,
Stop not until the
apocalypse happens again. Then…
A survivor arrived,
weeping in an uproar,
From a wrecked
spaceship, over the shore,
Humans showered the
alien with humanity,
Not knowing they are
watering evil barbarity.
Soon the recovery is
done; time to leave the town,
But the alien told how
its planet was taken down,
By a ruthless regime,
and humans did pity its savvy.
The alien settled
comfy, recouping its gratitude as a navvy.
Residents thought of
the alien as a messenger of God,
Assuring the town's
prosperity, soon many aliens landed in a pod.
Agonised that the
alien was nothing but a spy sent to infiltrate,
Colonised,
rabble-roused the hunger to merry their massive trait.

One problem with us humans is that we are too eager to welcome Messengers and Avatars of God. We seem to have lost our ability to perceive the right from the wrong, the good from the bad, and the valuable from the vicious. Your poem is amenable to multiple interpretation. I just wrote the first thoughts that came to my mind.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much sir for your insight. Indeed we welcome only problems while interrogating the good.
DeleteThat was a spine-chilling account of an apocalyptic future. All that evolution, will that really save mankind or lead to the perishing of the human race, having hit the peak do we now lose into the nadir.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your insight. Indeed, but the cycle of evolution happens and repeats, that's the way it goes. Revival happens in every phase.
DeleteYour poem is powerful and hopeful. It is scary how our future seems to be unfolding. In Hindi they say" Ghor Kalyug". It seems to be as if the end is near but really hope that there is a new shining future for the coming generations.
ReplyDeleteI agree and positively we are that generation of light. Thank you.
DeleteYour poem starts with alpha and ends at omega - the beginning of humanity and the end of it as well. Will we destroy our own future by inviting the wrong kinds of intervention, I wonder? We are certainly hurtling towards some kind of apocalypse, no doubt! A poem that makes us think!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your deepest insight on my poem of alpha and omega concepts. Well, I believe, there is always room for implementing positivity over every challenges. May be, the word apocalypse, so far we just know only about destruction, again its the term defined by us, but we also can envision for an awakening and transformation for the better.
DeleteThe fact that we always look to messengers and messiahs for our upliftment is the reason the world is in this condition. The so-called men of god, have pitted humans against one another, destroying the essence of humanity
ReplyDeleteThanks for very interesting perspective and its complex issue to discuss. But we must accept the fact that minority of so-called are exploiting real value of aesthetics of religion, nature and humans as well.
DeleteA poetry that easily blends humanity with politics. You have captured the essence of alien as what britishers did to Indians. I could easily relate to the feeling of being colonized. Well said.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your vision of relating this poetry with humanity relating politics. Truly, I've mixed politics to the alien concepts, world to the country and the rest is all we know what. Your insight amazed me a lot. Thanks Shifali.
DeleteI feel your poem reflects the indifference, the numbness of the society at present. there is as if a piece of us gone missing as humans.
ReplyDeleteYou find that right. Its the human nature of not being human. But the changes we expect will be implemented once we find the missing dots and starting to join them with truth. A real key to navigate the challenges we face. Thanks for your perception.
DeleteWe are truly NPC's in this cosmic exercise. We're definitely hurtling towards some endgame. I was here before, will probably be here again,is how I think of existence on this Planet. If nothing else, I'll enjoy the newness the alien brings. Because worrying is so passe! Lovely poem. Made me think~
ReplyDeleteThanks and hurray to your comprehension and yes we are must be aware of our existence and evolution on this planet. And I soulfully believe, we are the aliens. We can be aliens to our future generations. We, the humans with higher intelligence with the ability to unlock many hidden realms of nature, after causing enough damage to the habitat in the way of upgrading their intelligence, they might fled to other planet or travel through time only to restart and to teach and to warm us, DO NOT REPEAT WHAT WE DID. MAKE IT BETTER!
DeleteIn the shadows of your verses, where time and space entwine,
ReplyDeleteA tale unfolds in echoes of a lineage, almost divine.
The cave you paint, a sanctuary, under celestial gaze,
Houses the last of humanity, a man of ancient days.
With a gentle nod, he whispers, "Begin anew, let's start,"
Uniting art and survival, teaching heart to speak to heart.
Symbols etched upon the walls, a story to impart,
Lessons scribed in silence, mastery of forgotten art.
Yet as the cycles turn, the newborns forget the sage,
Claiming glory as their own, the center stage.
Unaware, they’re but pieces in a grander scheme,
Puppets dancing on the strings of another’s dream.
Your poem weaves a narrative, rich and deep,
Where knowledge grows and dark secrets creep.
As humans reach, with hubris, where angels dare,
Blind to the cycle repeating, caught unaware.
An alien arrives, a harbinger in disguise,
Bringing tales of woe that open eyes.
Humanity extends its hand, in kindness laced,
Not seeing the shadow of conquest, quietly placed.
The town, once vibrant, now a stage for a darker play,
Welcomes the alien not as guest but predator to their dismay.
For every gesture of peace, a plan festers unseen,
As the alien’s true intentions slowly glean.
Your verses invite us, cautionary, profound,
To tread with care where ambitions abound.
For in the game of existence, so elegantly described,
We must discern the truth from tales scribed.
May we learn from your lines, so artfully wrought,
The wisdom of cycles, the battles unfought.
Lest history’s lessons be carelessly tossed,
And we find our future, like the past, is lost.
Oh My God! This is indeed awesome,
DeleteA poetry as response to poetry is wowsome,
I'm flabbergasted to read your response,
I wanted to scream, 'Yes' from my bones,
You indeed find the core of my poetry,
Just like Holmes finding the mystery,
All I wanted to say is Thank you,
A gesture of salute with words a few.
Whether we like it or not, we are destroying ourselves and feeling proud of our achievements....what an irony!! It's sometimes scary to think of what the future holds.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yes, its scary but the most scariest one is that we are living on floating mass of debris from another giant star! Change is the only consent one that doesn't change, so lets hope for the better change inspiring positive vibes to make our future better on this tiny floating rock in vast universe.
DeleteThis reminds of the core of my favorite show, Game of Thrones, where in their pittance against each other, they keep ignoring the common threat until its right in their faces and leads to humanity's downfall
ReplyDeleteThank you for the mind-blowing views. I believe that the thread and thrive both are masking right in front of us. And it always becomes the complex choice which one to pick! Thanks again for catching the core and GOT is mine's fav too.
